from 601 reviewsBuy with confidence. Works as advertised. I found my boost leak within a minute. Could not be ant more satisfied with a tool.
One thing it could use is a way to tell how much oil is in the machine, other than that no complaints
This found several minor air leaks, would be nice if it had a shut off switch, even just a simple switch inline on the power cord .
I had a small leak on a 2004 Dodge Dakota’s evap system, I had replaced two parts on the system and still had the issue of coding for small leak. I looked at the hoses and placed clamps, but it still coded, so I bought this smoke machine, hooked it up to the Evap system, and within minutes the smoke showed the leak. I fixed the area, the check engine light went off an I am so happy. I look at this as an investment, I would have been charged more money for diagnostics at a repair shop than the cost of the machine. I highly recommend this product. It would be nice to be able to adjust the amount of pressure rather than pulling the smoke from the hose but it still worked, just be careful to not go over the PSI for the system you are testing. 2 Thumbs Up
Easy to use, makes good smoke but don’t keep it in your garage because it has a very strong smell that lasts for a long time
Overall, I am happy with this curing light. It was well packaged and arrived damage free.
It was easy to assemble and sturdy when assembled. I did have to change the plug but that was no big deal.
I do wish the heating elements were replaceable but it has been my experience that if well cared for they will last for many years.
Overall, I am happy and I would buy this curing light again/

This works really well for an inexpensive machine. I was able to diagnose a leak in my car's vacuum hoses. All in all, I wish the cables and hose were a little bit longer but for the price it's an excellent value.
I figured they're probably all made in China, this one was cheap, so I'll try it. It's actually quite nice. It's smaller than I expected, which is good. I like the metal case. I see the over $900 otc one is plastic. It makes thick smoke. The fittings are nice. The flowmeter is nice.
Any of these is just a regulator, some means of controlling flow, and a heater. I don't know how anyone comes up with $900-1000 for that.
I regret buying real "smoke fluid" for it, it is obviously just mineral oil. The instructions for this even tell you to use that. No magic here, it just heats up oil to produce smoke. I'll use mineral oil, not baby oil, which just has a scent added. The smoke gets in whatever you're testing, condensing and coating things a little, so I suppose there is some minor risk of the perfume decomposition products being corrosive or something.
Speaking of instructions, you sure don't need them to operate this simple thing, but they are written (or translated) pretty well.
I might like to have a 120vac power option. I would rather not have the more expensive type that comes with an air pump. More moving parts means it's more likely to break. The 12v might mean they use a cheap diesel glow plug for heat, I don't know. Maybe I'll take a look inside.
I was skeptical buying a smoke machine at this price point but it worked great! The unit feels solidly built and the included attachments are useful and solidly built also. I bought this model because I have shop air at my disposal and didn't want a unit with a built in compressor that could fail. The included attachments are easy to use and the pre-installed automotive style air fitting fit my air hose quick connects. I set this unit up and had it operational in five minutes. It doesn't come with smoke liquid (mineral oil) so I ordered that separately.
It's first use was on an 05 Focus that I've been chasing vacuum leaks on for several weeks and resulted in P0171 lean codes. As seen in my pic, the leak was found in less than a minute from the throttle body shaft seal that was pushed out under the return spring. I never would have found that without this machine and I legit regret waiting so long to buy it!
Good price, product as described, fast shipping. Would buy from again.
Are you old? I'm old, and over the years my strength, stamina, and dexterity has diminished considerably. When I was a young man all I had to do was grab my tool and give it a few yanks, and my nuts let loose. Now, as an old man no matter how many times I tug on my tool, I just can't get my nuts to let loose. Over these oh so many years of living in the cold winters of the Midwest, dealing with way too much salt usage every winter, my nuts have gotten old and crusty. So, now with this wonderful and amazing tool I am, able to crawl underneath, slide it right in, put this tool on my nuts, and within a few seconds my nuts have warmed and loosened up so I am now finally able to get my nuts off again. Just like I was able to to when I was younger and didn't need devices like this for assistance.
So, whether you young or old, whether your nuts are crusty, rusty, or just too darn tight, I would highly recommend this tool so you're able to get your nuts off too. 👍
Give it a try. You'll be glad you did, and hopefully it'll bring a smile to your face like it did for me!
Great unit works as advertised
Works great for finding boost/vacuum leaks.
Nice setup that is easy to use, everything is also pretty well made.
Comes with almost everything you need to start testing (just needs smoke oil).
I am a master technician for General Motors and this smoke machine works just as good or better then the high dollar ones the only draw back is it could use a indicator gauge the machine makes smoke fast and is easily hooked to the evap system the intake system to find vacuum leaks or exhaust system or turbo system to find leaks the smoke is also thick enough to easily find where water leaks are around doors glass and so on and you can just use simple baby oil or anything equivalent I had a Red Line smoke machine which if you work in the automotive field you know it's not cheap and I like this smoke machine a lot better it also has a simple on off button hope this review helps.
commercial nut/bolt removal in a very rusted situation...however needed 30 second heat app on the difficult ones..and sometimes more than 1 rep. ...success in the end..
